You kill your enemy with bullets, yet it strikes me as absurd
That to lay low your foe, you need a weapon
When you slay your friend with just a word.

Be careful what you say when you're angry,
Your tongue can cause such pain and 'sorry' can't undo the damage,
The word, once spoken, can't return.

The tongue is a fire, the tongue is a flame,
The tongue is a curse, the tongue is a game,
The tongue is a knife, it leaves you to bleed,
The tongue is a fire, the tongue is your deeds.
Watch where it burns.

Have you heard the whispers going around the town? "She didn't!", "Yes, she did!" Tsk!
You don't have to help that rumour get around.
"I don't believe a word of it, but I must tell someone so." "Just what I thought!"
"Ah! Wait till you hear what I heard".
Watch what you say, the words could burn you down.
