I made a mistake
I started dreaming about life in space
With my good friends James Webb and Hubble
I'd fly higher and farther than all the others
And because we were so far
From the ground below we'd look like stars
And with my xenon ion propulsion
I could finally escape my small town in Wisconsin
They say dare to dream
That creating worlds won't hurt anything
But I've been sleeping for many years
Eyes closed, headphones on my ears
Meanwhile shuttles have gone
None of which I've been on
It's not that I think I can't fly
But I need to wake up before I can try

Everything in life must shift
Even the masses of land we sleep on drift
So does it make sense to change your dream
And if you let all that go, then what does it mean
It seems like missions launch every day
Some commandeered by good friends and while they
Have worked hard to learn to pilot these planes
It forces me to consider a painful change
