Jimmy Jones, a friend of mine
Laid down and died over in Viet Nam
Wrote a letter home as he sat and cried
Saying "Oh Lord, I don't want to die!"

Melvin Lee, a Texas born boy
Laid down and die , having done nobody wrong
Looked up at me as we went to meet the maker

wife and four babies back home."
