In Dreams

When I wake up in the morning
Just before I open my eyes
I see your face before me
It lights up my dream sky
The real thing is so hard to find
I guess I've just been close before
For years I believed it would come to me
But now I'm just not sure
Except in dreams

There we walk through each moment
Touch each possibility
Everything we say is honest
Every movement is free
Trust guides us deeper and deeper
Mapping new and old
We let each other come through
As each path unfolds
In my dreams

I've spent years disappearing
Running with ghosts, digging deep
But now I think it's time to surface
Finally hold you when I'm not asleep

Then I'll wake up in the morning
Open my eyes wide to your smile
I'll show you everything, you'll do the same
I guess that could take us a while
The real thing will keep us close
Through touch and words through feeling seen
And when we go to sleep at night
We'll find each other in our dreams
